China claims entire Mt. Everest as Chinese territory

The tweet of Beijing's state-run media agency - China Global Television Network (CGTN) - on May 2 claiming that the Mount Everest is on its side has drawn wide criticism in Nepal with the people reacting aggressively to the post. The Mount Everest region, which created a dispute between Nepal and China back in the 1960s over its territory, was claimed on by Kathmandu when then Prime Minister Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala was on a visit to China.
Mount Everest, the world's highest peak with the height of 8,884 meters, has been the main source of income for the landlocked nation. It was first ascended by Sir Edmund Hillary, an American and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, a Nepali, on May 29, 1953.

Though there are two ways to get to the top of the world's highest peak, Nepali side (southern) is considered to be most standard one whose permits are issued by the Government of Nepal.
According to a 1960 Border Resolution Agreement, China and Nepal had decided that Mount Everest would be divided- the Southern slope would belong to Nepal and the Northern slope to Tibet, which China claims as a part of its territory.
It was also decided that the China-Nepal border would pass through the summit of Mount Everest, but now that Beijing wants to use the highest peak in the world for mounting its 5G network and snoop in India, Bangladesh and Myanmar by beaming through the Himalayas, it is doesn’t even recognize the fact that it shares the peak with Nepal.
Netizens asserted that Mount Everest was in Nepal and not in China, and that it will always be the ‘pride of Nepalese’. Some  even shared memes of President Xi Jinping, and tagged Nepal’s government to bring a spotlight on the claim.
China Calls Mount Everest 'Mount Qomolangma', This is how Chinese expansionism starts - calling geographical features with chauvinistic names and recognizing them as parts of Beijing's own territory.
